Web Accessibility and Usability

At Insurance Agents we have designed and developed this website paying close attention to eliminating barriers to content for certain types of users who, due to some disability or other difficulty, have access problems. Our goal has been to prepare this website so that it can be browsed by the largest number of users regardless of their differentiating characteristics, age, personal limitations and/or knowledge of new technologies. “The power of the web is in its universality”.

For the development of this web page, it has been based on compliance with the WCAG 2.1, web content accessibility guidelines established by the W3CCC (World Wide Web Consortium) for the “double A” (AA) suitability level.

We try to make web browsing simple and uncomplicated, and we try to follow the following guidelines:

• Fast page, optimizing the code of the web page (HTML and CSS) and hosted on secure and very fast servers.
• Simple appearance to find all the information you need.
• Different buttons to interact and communicate such as WhatsApp, messenger, contact forms and direct calls.
• We use an elaborate web architecture so that all the content is well structured.
• A good readability to enjoy all the contents.
• We always apply the 3-click rule, to quickly navigate and find what you’re looking for.
• Maximum security of the information and data entered under the https protocol.
• Operability on most devices such as desktop PCs, laptops, smart TVs, tablets and mobiles. Applying the Responsive Web Design and development philosophy.

Additionally, our website contains:

• Alternative textual content to non-textual content.
• The main menu is visible on all pages.
• The footer menu on all pages, with all access to our legal pages.
• You can view this website with the latest versions of the most common browsers.
• We implement the AntiSpam policy with Google’s reCaptcha module (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) v.3. With this version, no warning or user information appears.

Different browsers use different keys to activate shortcuts. You have to keep in mind that for Windows the Ctrl key will be used, corresponding in the Mac system to the command key or cmd ⌘. The Windows Alt key corresponds to the option key on Mac ⌥, (in some cases it is done with the help or Shift).

• Ctrl + +, Ctrl + –: Zoom in or out on the page content. On Mac it is ⌘ + +, ⌘ + –.
• Ctrl + 0: Cancel zoom by restoring default size. On Mac it is ⌘ + 0.
• Space bar or Space or PageDown: Scroll down the page.
• Shift + Space or PageUp: Scroll up in the page.
• Home or End: Go to the beginning or the end of the page.
• Alt + Home: Open home page in current tab. On Mac it is ⌘ + Shift + H.

You can also combine the keyboard with the mouse to save yourself some clicks:

• Drag link to tab bar: To open it in an already open tab or in a new one.
• Ctrl + Click: Open link in new tab. On Mac it is ⌘ + Click. You can also press the middle mouse button.
• Ctrl + Shift + Click: Open link in new tab and go to it. On Mac it is ⌘ + Shift + Click.
• Shift + Click: Open link in new window.
• Alt + Click: Download content of a link.
• Drag tab off bar: Open tab in new window.
• Ctrl + Scroll: Zoom in or out.
• Shift + Scroll: Scroll horizontally on the page.

Web accessibility as a fundamental right

It is important to note that the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities takes into account information, including accessible websites at all times, as a fundamental right.

It is important to mention that the implementation of web accessibility standards and regulations are essential, not only for people with disabilities, but also for the rest of the world.

On March 30, 2007, the European Union ratified and signed this Convention and, from this moment, it was signed by the 27 countries that comprise it.

We can remember that the General Assembly of the United Nations has different guidelines to constantly optimize web accessibility, adding the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines  (WCAG) of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), promoted by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

These web accessibility guidelines benefit all those people with disabilities, permanent or not, among which we can name people with reduced mobility, reduced vision or blindness, hearing disabilities, as well as all those who require adaptations due to their age or environment limitation.

• LAW 56/ 2007, of December 28, on Measures to Promote the Information Society. Mandatory measures are dictated for the elimination of barriers in the use of Information Technologies for the Public Administration and entities financed by it.
• LAW 27/ 2007, of October 23, by which Spanish sign languages ​​are recognized and the means of support for oral communication of deaf, hearing-impaired and deaf-blind people are regulated. The recognition and use of of Spanish Sign Language in the public sphereis regulated.
• LAW 11/2007, of June 22, on electronic access of citizens to Public Services. The right of citizens to interact with Public Administrations by electronic means is recognized.
• ROYAL DECREE 366/2007, of March 16, on accessibility and non-discrimination of people with disabilities in their relations with the General State Administration. The conditions of Accessibility and Non-discrimination of citizens in their relations with the General State Administration are regularized.
• ROYAL DECREE 1494/2007, of November 12, which approves the Regulation on the basic conditions for the access of people with disabilities to the information society. The conditions of Accessibility of the Information Society are normalized .
